Trust is the most important factor in every relationship, both personal and business. Without it – you have nothing.
Some people feel entitled to trust. They’ll say “are you questioning my integrity?” or “I can’t believe you don’t trust me!” Yet, even the most trustworthy man of all time, Jesus himself, didn’t demand blind trust. He told the Jews who were challenging him, “Do not believe me unless I do what my Father does. But if I do it, even though you do not believe me, believe the miracles, that you may learn and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.” (John 10:37-38).
In other words, Jesus told them to test what he said by his actions; his miracles proved his words to be true. Actions always prove why words mean nothing. Unless a person keeps their word – then their word is meaningless. We honor God when we honor our word. The Bible speaks about this saying:
“Simply let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’ or your ‘No’ be ‘No,’ anything more comes from the evil one.” Matthew 5:37
People who are successful, respected and highly influential are often found to be those who honor their commitments and stay true to their word.
This does not mean that you won’t make mistakes. There is no such thing as a perfect person, and no one wants to be around someone who thinks they are blemish-free. The only one who ever walked the earth (who was sinless) was Jesus.
However wise people take the Golden Rule to the next level. They don’t treat people the way they would like to be treated – they treat others better than they would ever dream!
People will give you MORE trust when you show that you respect their time, treat them with kindness and are considerate of their needs. When you aspire to push others higher, you’ll find that you will gain the trust of others more quickly than you ever imagined! The Bible affirms that those who are generous will be themselves be refreshed.
“The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.” Proverbs 11:25
The best role model walked this earth over 2,000 years ago. Following in His footsteps is truly the best life you could possibly ever have!
