The Bible says that everyone who reads God’s word and obeys it will be like a house firmly planted upon a rock.
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock” Matthew 7:24-25
“And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” Matthew 7: 26-27
What does this mean for you as an individual? Not only does this apply to your home, but this also applies to your personal walk with God. This applies to your friendships, your vocation, your status as a single, your marriage, your role as a sister, mother, father, husband, wife, parent, employee and company owner.
Friends – EVERYTHING in God’s word stands on this principle. It’s very simple. When you obey God’s word and take responsibility for your own walk with God, your life will be like the first house.
Solid. Stable. Strong!
However when you look around at what society is doing, and you want to fit in instead of following God’s plan, then your life will look like the second house. The end result is always pain! Look at the stories God has given us in the Bible. They’re there for a reason.
Yes, everyone might be doing it, but sin is only fun for a short season. God says that He disciplines those He loves. Some people take more time to learn the lesson than others, and in the end, the consequences of selfishness vs. following God’s plan is always destruction. Remember, none of us live to ourselves… we see this now more than ever.
Friends, I pray you choose to “anchor” your heart, mind, values, attitudes – your very soul in the one and only Savior who can save, heal and redeem you.
God has given you the power of free will. The power to choose. That is a precious gift that can’t be granted by anyone.
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not on thine own understanding; in all thine ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
As you saw in the video, God has given us all a choice. The question is, how do YOU want to be remembered?
“But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” Joshua 24:15b
