We are living in times with a plethora of knowledge. Never before have we seen such advances in technology, medicine, or the sciences. People are able to instantly “talk” with one another from nation to nation in virtual real-time.
For example, the medical field has seen breakthroughs in research which has permitted people who were once considered “terminal” to now have a sustaining and meaningful life. Technology has been made where our brave veterans who suffered the loss of a limb have the potential to being fitted with an artificial limb that will facilitate ambulation and/or grasping.
Technology is enabling some to share their knowledge and experiences that help others lead a better life.
However in spite of all of “discoveries” of science…the news reflects that our world is in a spiral of moral anarchy, turmoil and a general feeling of malaise.
Terrorist bombings, nightly shootings, neighbor shooting neighbor, home-made bombs… why is all of this happening? The Bible speaks of these things happening in 2 Timothy 3.
The solution is simple. The answer rests in the source of all truth, which is God. However the process of bending man’s heart, will, mind and emotions toward seeking God has been the struggle since the garden of eden.
Today many people are more concerned about their own perspective or opinion than doing what is right before almighty God. Friends, we were not created to go through life this way. When one man’s perspective of what is good clashes against another’s perspective of what is evil, this is how wars erupt, violence ensues, and all sorts of evil comes into the world.
Consider the example that is being displayed for children and future generations by those who choose to sit on freeways, loot mail carriers, robbing the elderly, and abruptly leaving a position serving the president simply when they don’t get their way. This all speaks to character.
God never designed the world, or humans, to coexist in this manner. God is a good God, and even in the midst of terror, tragedy, trials, trauma and tribulations, He is always working for the good of mankind. It is sin that’s at the heart of the loss of morality in our culture today.
Morality cannot be based on a certain individuals perspective. Even the most pre-eminent philosophers and psychologists know that all human beings are incapable of a non-neutral perspective.
This is why the foundation, the anchor, of our morality must be rooted in the firm foundation of the goodness of God.
Just like a mother will run into the street to grab her child out of harms way, so too does God run after us to protect us, guide us, and redirect us onto the right path. His path is always for our good.
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
Let us continue to pray for our nation. Pray for our leaders. Pray that God’s sovereign hand protects and blesses our country, protects us from all evil, foreign and national. Let us pray that our leaders are filled with Godly wisdom and discernment. Let us pray for all pastors, missionaries, and Christians ministering here and abroad.
For each one of us, there is only one thing necessary: to fulfill our own destiny, according to God’s will, to be what God wants us to be. Thomas Merton
And let us pray that God awakens the people of this great nation to once again, recognize the sovereign divinity, holiness and awesomeness of the one, true, God and bend all hearts, to Him – and Him alone.
