Hello friends, you know words are very important. Words can bring warmth, hope and healing across thousands of miles via the telephone wires (or wireless) connection between family members, or they can share a significant experience between friends. Words can unite nations or cause wars.
They can offer insight, perspective, understanding and vision bringing comfort, encouragement, laughter and hope to a weary, anxious and desolate soul.
Words can be the only therapeutic tool that will gently coax a beaten, battered and traumatized soul into coming out of their hole of fear, shame and isolation and re-entering into the world of the living. Ultimately, words can be a soothing balm which bring healing, forgiveness and love – or they can be a wreaking ball that crushes the heart of someone who is deeply wounded and hurting.
A word of encouragement can be one of the greatest acts of love that you can give. This is because when words become real in our lives, they can change the lives of others. Jesus is the word made flesh. In him, speaking and acting were one.
A broken bone will take 6 – 8 weeks to heal. Depending on the severity of the fracture and the surrounding tissue involved, it might take longer as the surrounding tissues will need physical therapy to strengthen and get back to their norm.
A broken bone heals and is quickly forgotten – but words can crush the spirit and cause devastation that lasts a lifetime. This is why Jesus was so hard on the Pharisees – their judgemental, condemning attitudes and harsh words were completely opposite of His love.
Your words are a reflection of your inner man and what resides in your heart. How are your words glorifying Him and affecting those around you?
“Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” Colossians 4:6 KJV
May your words be loving and kind.
